THE NEED FOR A NEW PRAYER LIFE

Christianity in our time is facing a growing opposition. The devil has found allies in so many people, and satanic collaboration against our faith is at its peak. This is similar to what was happening during the days of our Lord Jesus Christ. But the living God has given believers – His ambassadors, authority and power to dominate and rule in this world that He created. However, many believers seem to be unaware of this. We take our prayer life carelessly thereby subjecting ourselves to perpetual attack from the camp of the enemy with no end in sight. We give in easily to the flesh thereby making of no effect the superior firepower provided by the Almighty to us in prayer. It’s high time we said NO to every activity of the enemy against us and our family and put on the whole armor of God.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not canal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled” (2 Corinthians 10: 3-6).

Note the 4 things we can do with our spiritual weapons:

  1. Pulling down of strongholds – According to the dictionary, a stronghold is a fortress or a well fortified place. A stronghold is that thing which has held you bound for so long. It is that stubborn situation or habit you’ve tried to get rid of to no avail. These may be demonically orchestrated. As a Christian, you have the power to destroy such strongholds.

  2. Casting down imagination – You have the weapon to destroy evil suggestions, mental images, ungodly concepts and every form of reasoning contrary to the Word of God.

  3. Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ – With this weapon you can hold captive every evil thought that the enemy brings to mind and make such obey Christ.

  4. Having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience – In order for this weapon to work for you, you have to separate yourself from any act of disobedience. You have to be willing to take God at His Words and do everything He commands.

The name of Jesus has been raised above all other names. Phil 2:9-11 states that “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in Heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”.

When we pray in the name of Jesus, change is bound to occur. The sick will receive healing, the poor will receive abundance, the bound will be loosed and captives will be set free. The bottom line is that if you can name the situation, it must be subject to the name of Jesus. Our God can do anything. He is the King of kings, The Lord of lords, God Almighty, God who sees, Lion of the tribe of Judah, The I AM WHO I AM, Lord of Hosts, The Lord our Peace, Holy One of Israel, The Everlasting God, Bright and Morning Star, The Ancient of Days, The Counselor, The Way, The Truth and The Life. He is The Creator of Heavens and the earth, without Him was nothing made that was made, He is The Provider, The Lord our Healer, The One who has absolute authority to change anything, He is the One who specializes in making possible what is impossible, He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He cannot change, He cannot lie, He cannot fail, He is never late, He saves, He delivers, He promotes and He brings down. He sees the beginning from the end, He is merciful, He is gracious, He is loving, and He is kind. He is just, He is Holy, He neither sleeps nor slumbers, and He is the One in charge of the affairs of men. What a Mighty God we serve!
